Students from Class 8 had the unique opportunity to go to a BMX jam at Ellesmere College this term.
The children rode two and three wheel bicycles around a BMX track and enjoyed practicing their skills with a professional BMX rider.
There was music, the sun shone and the children surprised themselves with how confident they were on the various bicycles. Many made great progress throughout the day, as a result of the professional guidance given.
We were particularly proud of one student who rode on the complex terrain BMX track.
As part of our new playground developments, a gardening area has been designed for the Primary department to complement the Senior’s growing area. The children have been growing vegetables and herbs and are very proud of how everything looks and smells.
The children have grown a large number of beans and enjoyed tasting them. They have also been involved in a whole school potato growing competition and have been proud of the results.
The skills and learning that can be accessed in the gardening area is extremely valuable and the children have loved watering the plants and exploring their stages of growth.
Senior students have also benefitted by using the produce in their meal planning.
