  • Ashmount Support Assistant receives ‘Stars in our Schools’ award!

    Mon 28 Nov 2022

Every year UNISON holds an annual national celebration day for school support staff.

This year, from 21st to 25th November, UNISON East Midlands celebrated the contributions that school support staff across our region make by holding their ‘Stars in our Schools’: ‘Hidden Hero’ Awards.

The awards are organised to say thank you to those who have gone above and beyond in making our schools a safe and happy place for children to learn.

We were delighted to hear that one of our classroom support assistants, Eva Prettenhofer, had been nominated for an award by several members of staff.

Eva received a surprise visit from UNISON representatives on Wednesday 23rd November 2022 who presented her with a shiny award, framed certificate and a £50 voucher in our Primary Department assembly.

Here’s what some of Eva’s colleagues said about her:

“I am nominating Eva as not only are the pupils at the heart of everything she does, so are her colleagues. She is constantly looking for new ways and resources to engage our students and help them make the most of their learning, making it a fun experience at the same time. Eva is a ray of positivity to all in school. Eva’s presence really lifts your spirits! She is constantly checking in on her colleagues as well as our pupils.’

‘Eva is an amazing person with a massive personality. She always gives 110% and way above what is asked of her. She always comes to work with the biggest smile and enthusiasm. She is all for the children and making each day special for them. She is a pleasure to work with. She never stops and is so eager to please. Her smile and laugh are contagious, she just brightens up your day.’

    Mon 21 Nov 2022

Thank you to everyone who supported our Children in Need Day on Friday 18th November 2022.

Staff and students were invited to attend school in non-uniform for the day and to donate their loose change to create two giant Pudsey Bear displays, and our Sixth Form students hosted a cake sale from our Common Room.

We are pleased to announce that we raised over £300 in total.

  • Remembrance Day

    Mon 14 Nov 2022

Thank you to everyone who supported our sale of poppies for the Royal British Legion this year.

Our students have been selling poppies across school to visitors, staff, pupils and their families.

Students have been learning all about Remembrance Day, and observed two minutes silence on Friday 11th November 2022. They have produced some incredible art work which has been displayed around the school.
