Friends of Ashmount

The Friends of Ashmount School

The Friends of Ashmount is a registered charity (charity number 1132409) consisting of a voluntary group of parents and friends who support the school by raising money through a number of events and activities throughout the year.  We hold termly meetings to discuss and organise these fundraising events and we are always looking for additional volunteers to help in this.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Maria Gallagher via the school on 01509 268506 or email office@ashmount.leics.sch.uk.

The aim of The Friends is to provide additional specialized resources, equipment and opportunities for Ashmount students who are aged 4 to 19 years and have a range of learning and physical disabilities.

Over the past few years we have:

  • Donated £9000 to the school towards the purchase of the Drivedeck. This motorised technology enables a child, whatever their mobility and access needs, to move around school independently.
  • Annually subsidised the cost of summer and Christmas class trips

  • Annually provided each pupil with an Easter and Christmas gift

  • Purchased resources for the LEGO club

  • Purchased an outdoor sound system for the Riding for the Disabled group

  • Funded a trip for all Primary-aged pupils to the theatre

  • Funded transport for Secondary-aged students to visit Drayton Manor Park

  • Annually purchased leavers’ gifts for those pupils who leave at the end of each academic year

  • Made a donation for resources to support a Complex Needs Festival held in school for medically and physically complex KS2 and KS3 children in Leicestershire

  • Funded the purchase of sensory equipment for each Department

  • Funded the purchase of resources for each classroom

  • Funded DJs and musicians for school discos

  • Funded the purchase and installation of a wheelchair swing and rubber play surface (2021)

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us thus far.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US

TO RAISE FUNDS

The Friends of Ashmount is a registered charity consisting of a voluntary group of parents and friends who support the school by raising money through a number of events and activities throughout the year.

The aim of The Friends is to provide extra resources and opportunities for students, which would not normally be met from the standard school budget.

 100 Club

This is a private lottery that is open to everyone over the age of 16 who has a link to Ashmount School whether they be a parent, carer, member of staff, governor, friend or volunteer.

For £5 per month (via standing order), you will be allocated a number which will be entered into a monthly draw. The draw takes place on the third Friday of each month. All winning numbers will be published on the school website and in school Newsletters.  Winners will be notified personally and prize monies issued accordingly.  The club rules and privacy policy are available on the school’s website.

The total income collected from the membership each month will be split 50% prize money and 50% to school. There are three prizes per month.

If you wish to become an Ashmount 100 Club member, please contact Di de Middelaer via the school office.

JustGiving

If you or someone you know is thinking of doing a sponsored event, please support the pupils of Ashmount School by raising funds for us.

It’s easy to set up a JustGiving fundraising page to encourage people to support you in your event and support the school financially.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to us.

Summer and Christmas Fayres

These are our major fundraising events of the year held in June and December at the school.

We have lots of different stalls and games plus a café where you can get together over a cuppa.  It’s a great family day out.   We usually send out a request to parents requesting items for the Tombola, Bottle and Cake stalls as well as raffle tickets for you to sell.  All the raffle prizes are donated, usually with a first cash prize.

We hope you will support the school by sending in items for the stalls, buying some raffle tickets and possibly helping out on the day.  We look forward to seeing you at our School Fayres.
