Class 3

Welcome to Class 3!

I would like to wish you a very warm and friendly welcome to our Class 3 page!

My name is Katie Gerighty and I am the Class Teacher in Class 3. The class is supported by myself and several Classroom Support Assistants and we are lucky to have a Teaching Student too who will be working very closely with me.

In Class 3, we currently have a mix of year 3 and year 4 children. We follow the National Curriculum in a creative way ensuring all subjects are differentiated to meet individual needs. Literacy is usually taught in ability groups across Key stage 2 where all pupils have the opportunity to develop their phonics, reading, writing, communication, social and comprehension skills addressing the needs of individuals. However, this is now carried out in our Class bubbles, due to the current Covid situation. Maths and other Curriculum lessons are usually taught in our classes and once again, these lessons are differentiated to meet individual’s needs.

Our outdoor area have several different spaces such as music, water, phonics, numbers, mirrors, chalkboards and sand.

At the start of each term I send home a Curriculum Summary, this allows parents and carers to see what their child will be covering in school.

We have a home school diary, which is a way in which we can communicate, please feel free to write in it daily. Also, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any issues or concerns.

The team and I are really looking forward to the year ahead.

All Classes provide parents with an online learning Journal called Tapestry, this is instead of a formal written report at the end of the year. Tapestry is a great way for parents and carers to see the progress their child is making and see a visual report showing the involvement taking place. It is designed for parents and carers to access after each term, and is a two way system where parents and carers can add to it at home.

You may access your Tapestry account here  https://eylj.org/login/
