This year’s Summer Fayre was another roaring success for Friends of Ashmount, raising over £2700 for the school.
The sun shone, and there was a great turnout. As well as the ever-popular tombola and sweet stalls, visitors had chance to try out the new nine-hole golf course. Traffic officers were also on hand to give visitors of all ages an insight into the work they do.
Friends of Ashmount would like to thank everyone who supported the event. All proceeds will be used to support continuing enrichment projects for Ashmount students.
Congratulations to two members of our staff who recently completed a fundraising fire walk for charity.
Helena Hudson and Trish Catterall walked across hot coals, raising £685 for Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough, a respite and care charity that supports many of our children and their families.
The Peter Le Marchant Trust were so impressed with the Key Stage 5 students who worked with them last Autumn that they invited another group to take part in ’Unbox Your Future’ - an exciting programme which offers work experience opportunities for young people with SEND.
Students learnt how to steer a canal boat, operate a lock, and host volunteers and peers with drinks and snacks whilst travelling.
Students of all ages were invited to join the band when musicians visited the school recently.
Students were able to try out different instruments whilst enjoying the music of Soft Touch Brass Band.
